Navin Ramgoolam Launches Anti-Drug Response with the 2026-2030 Masterplan

Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam chaired the first meeting of the National Drug Control Commission (NDCC) on Thursday, April 23, marking a significant step in the fight against drugs in Mauritius. During this meeting, the government approved the National Drug Control Masterplan 2026-2030, a national strategy aimed at better coordinating the actions of relevant institutions.

Navin Ramgoolam described the fight against drugs as a national priority, highlighting the severe social, economic, and health consequences of this epidemic. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach, asserting that the issue cannot be addressed solely from a punitive perspective. The meeting also provided an update on ongoing work regarding the reform of the national cannabis policy.
