Dispute Between Ala-lila Taxi and Uber: A Counter-Affidavit Expected
The case involving Vengidasamy Naick Ganeshen and 242 other licensed taxi drivers against Logidis Ltd, which operates the Ala-lila Taxi platform, and the National Land Transport Authority (NLTA), was called on Monday, April 27, 2026, before Judge Azam Neerooa in a preliminary hearing.
Logidis Ltd announced that it has retained the services of Senior Attorney Me André Robert. The company opposed the request and sought a postponement to file a counter-affidavit. The case is now set for May 6, 2026. Meanwhile, the NLTA indicated that it intends to engage state legal representatives and will announce its position on the same date.
In their affidavit, the contesting taxi drivers, represented by Me Roshi Bhadain, Arun Bhinda, and Me Kaviraj Bokhoree, mention several online transport platforms, including Uber, listed among "MOTAXI, YUGO, ALALILA/UBER, DODOGO, FINOVA, ELITE, VITE, MOKABB," which they claim are operating without authorization.
They are seeking an interim injunction to suspend the platform's operations pending the court's decision on the matter.
