Budget 2026-2027: Launch of Pre-Budget Consultations This Wednesday

The pre-budget consultations for the 2026-2027 budget will kick off this Wednesday, April 29, under the leadership of Junior Minister of Finance, Dhaneshwar Damry. These consultations will take place over a five-day period. The first day will focus particularly on small farmers, livestock breeders, cooperatives, as well as SMEs and startups.

Unlike previous years, unions will be invited to submit their proposals on Thursday, April 30.

These consultations will bring together key economic and social stakeholders from the agricultural, entrepreneurial, tourism, and industrial sectors, along with unions, consumers, and service professionals.

Representatives from civil society will also be consulted to ensure an inclusive approach.

Earlier in February, the Ministry of Finance had issued a call for contributions, inviting all stakeholders to share their recommendations.

For the 2026-2027 budget, the main outlines are already established.

The government aims to boost growth potential, enhance productivity, support the creation of quality jobs, and improve the living standards of Mauritians.

All of this is set against a backdrop where climate resilience and the recovery of public finances remain top priorities.
