Electoral Reform: The 'Best Loser System' and Communalism
The term 'communalism' does not exist in the French dictionary. This neologism, widely used in Mauritius, has virtually the same definition that French speakers attribute to the word 'communitarianism': the existence of adjacent communities, groups of people with the same origin, or sharing common interests, sometimes in opposition to other groups in society.
The word 'communitarianism', although it is widely used, is also not found in the official dictionary.
