Politics: Arianne Navarre-Marie's Appointment as Deputy Prime Minister is Confirmed

Arianne Navarre-Marie is set to take the oath as Deputy Prime Minister shortly. This information has been confirmed by RadioPlus. According to reliable sources, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam has already made his decision. A cabinet reshuffle is also on the horizon, as the Deputy Prime Minister position has been left vacant following the departure of Paul Bérenger and his daughter, Joanna Bérenger, from the role of Junior Minister for the Environment.

It has been reported that Arianne Navarre-Marie's swearing-in ceremony at the State House will happen soon. It will be officially announced once the Prime Minister finalizes the details.

Within Navin Ramgoolam's close circle, it is clear that the leader of the Labour Party (PTr) is allied with the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), which remains in government after Paul Bérenger's exit, and Ramgoolam intends to honor this alliance.

Thus, he has met with MMM leaders to hear their proposals before making a decision.

The Prime Minister also met with his loyal PTr deputies last Tuesday to inform them of the direction he plans to take. Concurrently, with the departure of his assistant and Joanna Bérenger, a cabinet reshuffle is looming.

While the Prime Minister still needs to consult other stakeholders before finalizing his choices, it is reported that two MMM elected officials are expected to rise in rank, one taking on a ministerial portfolio and the other a delegated minister position. Other adjustments are also on the agenda.

In the meantime, Arianne Navarre-Marie, the Minister for Gender Equality and Family Welfare, is well on her way to replacing her former leader and taking on the role of the government's second-in-command.

Of Chagossian descent, she recently stated that regardless of the responsibility assigned to her by the Prime Minister, she would be capable of rising to the occasion. She was responding to a media question regarding her potential interest in the position of Deputy Prime Minister.
