Labor Day: Commemoration in Memory of Guy Rozemont

On the occasion of International Workers' Day, celebrated on May 1st, a moment of remembrance was held this morning in honor of Guy Rozemont, a prominent figure in the Mauritian labor movement.

Patrick Belcourt, Father Jocelyn Grégoire, Stephan Buckland, Jonathan Chatigan, and Bruneau Laurette gathered to lay a wreath at his grave in St. John’s cemetery.

This gesture is part of the tradition of paying homage to those who have contributed to the defense of workers' rights in Mauritius.

The commemoration also serves as a reminder of Guy Rozemont's role in organizing and mobilizing the working class.

Through this tribute, participants emphasized the importance of preserving social achievements and continuing to reflect on current working conditions.
