Labor Day: The New Democrats Party Honors the Earth

On the occasion of Labor Day, celebrated this Friday, May 1st, the New Democrats Party paid tribute to the Earth, recognized as a source of life, work, and sovereignty. The party extended its wishes to workers in Mauritius and around the world, emphasizing that the appreciation of the Earth is inseparable from the respect for workers' rights and human rights. Protecting the environment, they assert, is about preserving the living and working conditions, as well as the dignity of present and future generations.

As part of its second anniversary, themed around ecology, a workshop was organized in nature at Chassée Les Mares in the South, in collaboration with the New Democrats' Environment & Ecology Club. This initiative, gathering members and guests, continues the party's commitments following a first year focused on democracy, ahead of a third year dedicated to meritocracy, in line with the DEM 2030 vision.

Speaking at the event, Khushal Lobine, a Member of Parliament and leader of the New Democrats, reminded attendees that the Earth is a collective heritage to be preserved and a matter of national sovereignty. The President, Véronique Leu-Govind, who was absent, sent a message of support to the workers.

This information comes from a statement issued by the party this Friday.
