El Capo's Jewelry Valued at Rs 1.6 Million

Brandon Rodrigues Sena, known as El Capo, made headlines in October 2025 after being arrested for cocaine trafficking. The Guyanese national was wearing gold jewelry at the time of his arrest by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Flacq. He had arrived in the country on May 30, 2025, but failed to declare these valuables at customs. Authorities seized a bracelet weighing 31 grams, a chain with a pendant weighing 165 grams, and a ring with precious stones weighing 50 grams. On April 30, 2026, the police received a report from the Assay Office estimating the jewelry's value at Rs 1.62 million.

Since November 2025, El Capo has been held at La Bastille in Phoenix. During his arrest in the eastern part of the country, CID confiscated gold jewelry which was sent to the Assay Office for appraisal. The police suspect that this jewelry was obtained through illicit means, leading the CID in Flacq to open an investigation into money laundering.

On October 29, 2025, during an operation in La Source Flacq, officers seized a firearm, knives, and substances suspected to be cocaine. There is also an ongoing investigation into the kidnapping of an individual, which he filmed and shared on social media. El Capo was supposed to spend six days as a tourist in the country and requested an extension of his visa, receiving an additional 15-day permit. However, he remained in Mauritius beyond this period.

Additionally, there is an Interpol Red Notice against Brandon Rodrigues Sena issued by France. He is suspected of drug trafficking, money laundering, and involvement in organized crime on French territory. He gained attention through live videos on social media where he claimed to be the new ‘boss’ of cocaine trafficking in Mauritius and had physically assaulted a rival in the drug trade.
