Drug Trafficking and Kidnapping: El Capo's Case Submitted to the DPP in March 2026
The investigation by the Flacq Criminal Brigade into Brandon Rodrigues Sena (El Capo) regarding accusations of drug trafficking and kidnapping has been completed. The case was submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on March 25, 2026. This was stated by Sergeant Dawnundun at the Bail and Remand Court on April 27, 2026.
During the session, presided over by Magistrate Ashmi Nuckchady, the investigator noted that the Guyanese national did not have a fixed residence in Mauritius. He indicated that the police were unable to locate the home of the Grand-Gaube resident who had claimed he could take care of Brandon Rodrigues Sena if he were granted bail. According to the police sergeant, Brandon Rodrigues Sena had stated that he resided there for six months prior to his arrest.
Sergeant Dawnundun mentioned that during a reconnaissance exercise, the indicated house did not match the description given by the Grand-Gaube resident. The resident was unresponsive when the police attempted to contact him. Additionally, the investigator noted that El Capo did not surrender his passport to the police during the investigation. Consequently, the magistrate granted additional time for the police to locate the Grand-Gaube resident. A hearing in this matter is scheduled for May 7, 2026.
Arrested on October 29, 2025, Brandon Rodrigues Sena, 31, was with Pierre Stéphane Esso (28) and Jean Fabrice Gateau (20). All three face two provisional charges before the Flacq court: drug trafficking with intent to distribute and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. At the time of their arrest, the police discovered 10 grams of cocaine in their possession while they were in a vehicle. The estimated value of the drugs is Rs 135,000. Furthermore, they are also accused of committing kidnapping on October 25, 2025, in the northern part of the island.
