In the North: Seizure of Heroin, Cannabis, a Firearm, and Ammunition
An operation conducted efficiently. With the help of reliable information, a team from the ADSU intercepted a vehicle at a gas station in Beau-Plan yesterday, Thursday, May 7. During a search of the SUV, authorities seized a package containing 146.52g of heroin, along with two other packages containing small amounts of heroin and cannabis. A firearm was also discovered in the vehicle.
Faced with this evidence, the two men, aged 25 and 40, residents of Goodlands and Péreybère, remained silent. A search was conducted at the home of the 40-year-old in Péreybère in the afternoon. Cannabis, heroin, and cannabis seeds were found. Additionally, ammunition was seized from the suspect living in Goodlands. The total estimated value of the seized drugs is over Rs 2.7 million.
The two suspects will appear in the Pamplemousses district court this Friday on provisional charges of drug trafficking among others. The police are likely to object to their conditional release. The investigation is ongoing.
