Senegal: The Assembly Adopts a Bill for Excluding Deputies After Ten Unjustified Absences

Article 118 of the internal regulations of the National Assembly already provided for sanctions against deputies who are repeatedly absent without justification, including the suspension of their parliamentary allowance or even the loss of their mandate. However, according to Ayib Daffé, the president of the ruling Pastef parliamentary group, this provision was rarely enforced and required greater clarity. He believes that a system of progressive sanctions should be implemented to address this issue.
