The MOL Charitable Trust Marks the Completion of Caritas Mauritius' Community Empowerment Project in Roche Bois
On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the MOL Charitable Trust (MCT) attended the closing ceremony for the "Anou Progrese Ansam" project held at the Roche Bois Community Center. This initiative, implemented by Caritas Mauritius with support from the Trust as part of its fourth call for projects (CFP4), gathered beneficiaries, Caritas representatives, facilitators, and stakeholders to present the project's outcomes and award certificates to participants.
Supported by the MOL Charitable Trust, an initiative of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) in Mauritius, the project benefited 92 individuals, including children, parents, and facilitators. It combined literacy support for children, functional literacy training for adults, life skills development, and training sessions for trainers aimed at enhancing support for children facing learning difficulties.
Yasuo Suzuki, President of the MOL Charitable Trust, congratulated the beneficiaries and praised Caritas Mauritius for its efforts during the project’s implementation. "The MOL Charitable Trust has been honored to support initiatives like Anou Progrese Ansam, which provide concrete support and opportunities to vulnerable communities. Through this project, we witnessed how literacy, life skills development, and community support can positively enhance the confidence and autonomy of both children and adults. We also wish to thank Caritas Mauritius for its commitment and dedication throughout the program," he stated.
Among the results presented during the ceremony, 191 literacy sessions were conducted for children participating in the program, with nearly 90% of beneficiaries showing improvement in their academic performance. Adults involved in the project also strengthened practical skills related to reading, writing, arithmetic, communication, and daily organization, while facilitators received specialized training and capacity-building support.
Patricia Adèle from Caritas Mauritius emphasized the importance of ongoing community support throughout the project. "Beyond the training itself, this project has helped many beneficiaries regain confidence in their abilities and feel more capable of facing daily challenges. We are grateful to the MOL Charitable Trust for supporting an initiative centered on dignity, empowerment, and tangible support for the families of Roche Bois," she remarked.
Several beneficiaries also shared their testimonies at the ceremony regarding the positive impact of the program on their personal development, family environment, and daily lives.
By attending this closing ceremony, the MOL Charitable Trust reaffirms its commitment to closely follow the initiatives it supports and to accompany projects with a strong community focus, aligning with its priorities in education, social empowerment, and local development in Mauritius.
