What a Great Machine? The Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept

Renault is set to unveil the Renault 4 JP4x4 concept on May 18 during the Roland-Garros tournament, marking a new milestone in the utilization of its electric platform for the B segment. This prototype blends the relaxed spirit of beach buggies with the functionality of pick-ups, drawing direct inspiration from the historical models R4 Plein Air from 1969 and JP4 from 1981. Designed to embody outdoor adventure, the vehicle is distinct for its lack of a fixed roof and a foldable tailgate, while its bold aesthetic highlights a striking contrast between an emerald green body and bright orange interior textiles.

On the technical side, this concept stands apart from the production version with enhanced off-road capabilities and a specific mechanical configuration. Based on the RGEV Small platform, the JP4x4 features a second electric motor on the rear axle, providing a permanent all-wheel drive essential for sandy or rugged terrains. The chassis has been optimized with a raised ground clearance of 15 mm, widened tracks by 10 mm, and 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with high-performance tires, showcasing the versatility of the automaker's electric architecture for more demanding recreational applications.
