Five Years Since the Death of Nooresh Juglall: A Tribute to His Memory

On May 16, the horse racing community in Mauritius pays tribute to Nooresh Juglall, five years after his passing on May 15, 2021, at Champ-de-Mars. That day, the 29-year-old Mauritian jockey suffered a serious accident during a race while riding Rule The Night. A heavy fall near the 400-meter mark led to his tragic death, leaving a profound impact on the local racing scene.

Recognized for his talent, discipline, and professionalism, Nooresh Juglall had established himself as one of the most promising Mauritian jockeys of his generation. His career also took him abroad, notably to South Africa and Singapore, where he made a name for himself.

In memory of him, the fifth race of the day is named after him. "The Nooresh Juglall Aqua Royal Middle Stakes" is held in his honor, serving as a moment of reflection and respect for the racing world.
