HUAWEI's Mauritian subsidiary officially launched the HUAWEI nova 15 Max during a media event held at Rooftop Icon in Ébène on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. This immersive event marked the start of pre-orders in the local market, featuring a promotional price of Rs 19,999 instead of Rs 22,999, along with complimentary HUAWEI FreeBuds SE2. Available in three finishes named Black, Gold, and Cyan, this mid-range model aims to redefine endurance standards with a massive 8500 mAh battery supported by Energy Booster optimization technology, promising up to 25 hours of continuous video playback to eliminate reliance on chargers.

In terms of durability and technical components, the smartphone features a reinforced structure that underwent physical pressure and immersion demonstrations in front of the press. The device boasts a 5-star SGS certification for drop resistance, mechanical strength capable of withstanding a load of 100 kg, and an IP65 protection rating against dust and water splashes. The multimedia section relies on a 6.84-inch OLED screen with a peak brightness of 4000 nits for visibility in bright sunlight, a symmetrical stereo dual speaker, a customizable physical shortcut named "X Button," and a 50 MP Ultra Vision main camera sensor with a RYYB matrix that maximizes light capture in low-light environments.

This focus on sustainability and user experience was encapsulated by Thomas Liu, Country Manager of Huawei Consumer Business Group for Eastern Africa, who stated: "With the HUAWEI nova 15 Max, we aimed to create more than just a smartphone. To further enhance this offer, the manufacturer includes a free Huawei Care+ plan for the first year with purchase, covering screen, battery, casing, or camera protection replacements, liquid damage incidents, protective film application, one month access to 200 GB of cloud storage, and VIP logistics service ensuring the collection and delivery of the device directly to the home in case of repairs.
