Parliament: Telephone Interceptions - A 'National Security Act' in Preparation

In response to a question from MP Adrien Duval at the National Assembly on Tuesday, May 19, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam announced that a 'National Security Act' is currently being studied to legally regulate the use of surveillance tools and prevent any abuse.

The head of government reminded that several laws already permit the interception of telecommunications in the context of investigations, particularly related to drug trafficking and the fight against organized crime.
