Climate Change: Historic Vote at the UN to Strengthen State Accountability

On Wednesday, May 20th, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution deemed historic, aimed at enhancing the obligations of states in combating climate change. Presented by Vanuatu, the resolution was adopted by an overwhelming majority, with 141 votes in favor, eight against, and 28 abstentions.

Countries that voted against include the United States, Russia, Israel, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. This resolution marks a new milestone in the global effort to address climate change.
