Mauritius Strengthens Its Port Cooperation with Australia
Mauritius continues to strengthen its international partnerships in the maritime sector. During its meeting on June 5, the Council of Ministers approved the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Mauritius Ports Authority (MPA) and the Fremantle Port Authority in Australia. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two port authorities through the sharing of expertise, information exchange, and the development of best practices in various areas related to port operations.
The collaboration will focus particularly on staff training, improving the efficiency of port operations, enhancing security measures, and developing cruise-related activities. The partnership also includes technical and professional exchanges aimed at supporting skill development and encouraging cooperation between the two institutions.
The Fremantle Port Authority is responsible for managing the port of Fremantle, the main port in Western Australia and one of the country's major logistics hubs. Through this agreement, the Mauritius Ports Authority seeks to benefit from the experience and expertise of its Australian counterpart in several strategic areas. For Mauritius, whose port is a crucial infrastructure for foreign trade and logistics activities, this cooperation aligns with efforts to modernize the port sector and strengthen its operational efficiency.
