Iran Targets Kuwait and Bahrain in Response to American Strikes

On Saturday, June 6, Iran launched strikes on Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for American attacks, despite a ceasefire, further complicating negotiations, particularly concerning frozen Iranian assets. Since the truce on April 8, hostilities had nearly ceased between the United States and Iran. However, they have recently resumed, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route for hydrocarbons that is controlled by Tehran. These new exchanges of fire coincided with the Iranian national football team's departure to Mexico, their base for the World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The players have received visas to enter the United States, where they are set to play three group stage matches, the first on June 15 in Los Angeles. However, Iran has criticized a "discriminatory treatment" as several coaching staff members did not obtain the necessary visas.
