Strong Swells and Cool Weather: Sea Outings Discouraged

A fairly strong anticyclone located southwest of the Mascarene Islands continues to influence weather conditions in the region. According to the Vacoas weather station, this situation maintains moderate, cold trade winds over Mauritius, with particularly rough seas beyond the reefs. Tuesday morning started under cloudy skies with light rain, mainly on windward slopes and the central plateau. However, improvement is expected during the afternoon with generally fine weather across the island. Maximum temperatures will range between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius in the highlands and between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius in coastal areas. Overnight, the sky will remain rather cloudy with some light rain expected mainly in the East, South, and central plateau. Minimum temperatures will vary between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius along the coast. Wind will blow from the southeast at about 25 km/h with gusts possibly reaching 50 km/h in some areas. At sea, caution remains essential. Southern swells of around three meters make the sea rough beyond the reefs. Authorities advise against trips in the open sea as well as in the lagoons of the West, South, and East. The next high tides are expected at 09:42 and 21:17, while low tides will occur at 14:43 and on Wednesday at 04:06. Atmospheric pressure recorded at 04:00 was 1021 hectopascals.
