HotelWorld 2025: Mauritian Tourism Focuses on Local Authenticity

The third edition of HotelWorld 2025 was held at the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre (SVICC) in Pailles on Tuesday, June 17. Organized jointly by the Association of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs of Mauritius (Ahrim) and Publi-Promo Ltd, this major event in the tourism calendar once again established itself as a hub for exchanges, discoveries, and opportunities. Approximately 350 hoteliers and restaurateurs attended, along with 70 exhibitors showcasing products and services for the hospitality and catering sector.

Throughout the day, from 8:30 AM to 6 PM, the SVICC welcomed key players in the tourism sector and their suppliers. The aim was to facilitate business meetings, create new partnerships, and encourage discussions about market trends and innovations. Ahrim took the opportunity to highlight several community initiatives working for the sector. Four exhibition tables were offered to committed entities: the Union of Artists, the National Women Entrepreneur Council, the "Partaz Kiltir Moris" project by the Diocesan Tourism Commission, and the Creole Speaking Union.

Notably, there was a strong regional presence, with about ten companies from the island of La Réunion, members of the Club Export Réunion, attending to explore collaboration opportunities with their Mauritian counterparts. With this new edition, HotelWorld confirms its role as a platform for dialogue and growth in a key sector of the Mauritian economy.

What They Said...

Jocelyn Kwok, CEO of Ahrim: "We are at the third edition of HotelWorld. This is an excellent opportunity for suppliers, both new and established, to make themselves known in the hospitality and catering world. Every day, new entrepreneurs enter the market, and they often struggle to get through the doors of hotels and restaurants. On the other hand, restaurateurs are looking for new ideas. So this is a very healthy way to connect them for an entire day. It’s much more than a trade fair: it’s a place for synergies, where ideas, talents, and visions come together to advance the Mauritian tourism industry."

Jean Claude Ip Man Pun, director of MacAllan: "This is my first participation and I am very pleased. Being part of the 'Made in Moris' label has allowed me to make interesting contacts and promote local products. We had the opportunity to create new connections in the hospitality sector. We are engaged in making uniforms for hotels as well as products in leather and faux leather, such as handbags, wallets, etc."

Shirin Gunny, CEO of the Association of Mauritian Manufacturers (AMM): "The Mauritian tourism offer must go beyond white sandy beaches, coconut trees, and five-star hotels. It is essential for tourists to experience 'Made in Moris,' both inside and outside hotels. We have an incredible diversity of local brands to showcase."
