Mauritius Telecom Launches "mytGPT for Education" at Maréchal College in Rodrigues

Mauritius Telecom (MT) has launched its innovative pilot project aimed at integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the educational system. This project will soon be implemented at Maréchal College in Rodrigues and will introduce the mytGPT platform to support teachers and students in a more interactive and personalized learning experience.

This initiative is part of a clear effort to modernize learning, promote equitable access to knowledge, and enhance the digital skills of young people. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mauritius Telecom, Veemal Gungadin, officially presented this innovative solution on Tuesday, June 17, at Maréchal College, which operates under the Rodrigues Educational Development Company Ltd (REDCO), in the presence of several dignitaries, including the Deputy Chief Commissioner, Johnson Roussety.

Mauritius Telecom and Maréchal College plan to launch a pilot project with 70 Grade 12 students. Three subjects will be involved, namely mathematics, accounting, and physics.

The educational platform mytGPT, designed by the innovation team at Mauritius Telecom, is an AI-powered teaching assistant that addresses the needs of teachers and students, particularly in terms of access to specialized resources, personalized learning, and student engagement. The platform will enable teachers to better prepare their lessons and monitor student progress. For students, mytGPT will provide personalized assistance and resources for more effective learning.

"With the launch of this pilot project at Maréchal College, Mauritius Telecom is transforming education through artificial intelligence. Aligned with the school curriculum, mytGPT will act as a personal tutor, capable of guiding each student at their own pace. This is a concrete step towards a more equitable education, driven by technology," shared MT CEO Veemal Gungadin.

A project to equip teachers and train students for responsible technology use

The pilot project will extend over the third term, from August 1 to the end of October 2025. Workshops will be organized to equip teachers with digital tools while interactive sessions will familiarize students with the educational platform mytGPT.

This initiative symbolizes a significant step for education, providing concrete solutions to address current pedagogical challenges. Through this project, Mauritius Telecom and its partners aim to contribute to a more inclusive, innovative school that meets the realities of the 21st century.
