Attitude Celebrates the Loyalty of Its Family Members

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, The Ravenala Attitude Hotel hosted a ceremony dedicated to recognition: the Long Service Awards 2025, an annual event organized by the Attitude hotel group to honor the loyalty of its Family Members.

This evening, characterized by warmth and gratitude, brought together teams from various establishments within the group in a festive and welcoming atmosphere. The program included a fine dining experience, a formal award ceremony, followed by musical entertainment and a dance floor managed by a DJ.

From 10 to 35 years of service: about fifteen employees were called to the stage to receive their trophies. Their loyalty, expertise, and passion are the pillars that have supported the group's success since its inception.

This significant moment of the year reaffirms the founding values of the group: recognition, kindness, and respect. It also continues a concrete commitment to workplace well-being, which has earned Attitude multiple certifications as a Great Place to Work.

The Long Service Awards 2025 ceremony highlighted the faces behind Attitude's success.

Voices of the Family Members

Jean Michel Pitot, Group CEO, Attitude: "The Long Service Awards remind us of a fundamental element: hospitality is not just about beautiful hotels or nice rooms. Without the men and women, hospitality is worth nothing. This is a message close to our hearts. It is our compass."

Vincent Desvaux de Marigny, CEO, Attitude (15 years of service): On the Long Service Awards: "I am experiencing a great human and entrepreneurial adventure, built on the dream of creating a mark in hospitality in Mauritius. A mark much smaller than it is today. We wanted to think outside the box and make a difference. Today, this vision is bearing fruit. We have developed a unique customer experience and a human-centered business philosophy. This leads us to this evening where we celebrate our Family Members. Our group is 15 years old but we have Family Members who have been in hospitality for 35 years. It is a great pride. We also feel a strong cohesion in the team. This cohesion is transversal, allowing us today to export the Attitude culture to Africa. We are a few months away from opening our first hotel in Africa, Matemwe in Zanzibar. We will integrate the Attitude DNA, developed on a Mauritian foundation, into the Swahili culture in Zanzibar. It is a strong, humble, and united team that will take on the challenge of expanding the Attitude group in Africa. Don't forget: if you want to go far, you go together; if you want to go fast, you go alone. What I love is that everyone maintains this DNA of humility. This is what allows us to stay level-headed as we advance in countries we don’t know. I am proud tonight to witness this success of Attitude."

An Employee Who Chose to Stay 15 Years at Attitude

"I have always dreamed of working in tourism and I seized the opportunity offered by Jean-Michel Pitot in 2001. It was my dream to promote my island, its values, and the humanity that makes up its DNA. The passion is still there. This job allows me to develop concepts and new projects, always interacting with people. That speaks to me and gives me the courage to move forward and create, day by day, new dimensions for this company."

Ashvina Busviah-Sookarah, Group People Manager, Attitude (10 years of service): "I have been in hospitality for 20 years. I remain passionate about human interactions. Welcoming people, discussing, talking: this is always a motivation for me. It's true that hospitality goes through difficult times, especially regarding recruitment. For me, I see it as an opportunity: to open up more to diversity. We come from a Mauritian culture based on diversity and inclusivity. So let’s see this challenge as an opportunity to enrich ourselves. What still surprises me today? It's a profession where you can make people happy, contribute to giving a dose of happiness. In hospitality, you never get bored. You learn from everyone you meet. I am sure there are no other sectors where you are in constant learning. I knew from the very first meetings that I was made for the Attitude group and that the Attitude group was made for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the humility and respect within this group. I couldn't even tell who was a manager or not. This absence of hierarchy pleased me. Here, everyone is treated the same way. This is what makes me stay with Attitude. This respect for humanity: it’s not just words on paper; it’s lived experience. Every day."

Ravindradev Unthiah, Chief Officer-Hotel Operations, Attitude (15 years of service): "What I still love about my job is the teams. I love being constantly connected with the teams. I prioritize the teams because they will take care of the clients. And I love the hospitality world. My journey with Attitude began with a meeting with Jean Michel Pitot while I was the General Manager of a 5-star hotel in the Maldives. He convinced me to support him in developing Zilwa, which became a success story. He then offered me a promotion to the position of Group Operations Director. But deep down, I always had the desire to develop hotels abroad. A desire that remains in my heart and mind. I am happy, during this Long Service Awards evening, to announce that the Attitude group trusts me to become their first Chief Operations Officer for Africa. I will help consolidate the group’s establishment and expansion in Zanzibar. I am continually evolving. Today, I am a man of Attitude, I am 55 years old and full of energy. I will develop all future Attitude hotels in Africa over the next five years. I am happy."

Calchand Soodevi, Accounts Payable Officer, Récif Attitude (15 years of service): "Since my arrival at Attitude, I have found a work environment where I feel comfortable, almost at home. The connections between colleagues, the kindness of department heads, and the warm atmosphere around us have created a conducive environment for well-being. Every morning, I am excited to come to work because there is no pressure, but a positive atmosphere that motivates me to give my best. Attitude has offered me the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. Thanks to internal training, I was able to evolve from Shop Supervisor to Accounts Payable Officer. The company encourages skill development, allowing me to acquire new knowledge and apply it effectively in my daily work. To new employees, I would say to come live the experience at Attitude. When you start a job, it’s the beginning of a journey, and I hope others will have the same enriching experience as mine. A person's attitude towards opportunities is crucial: humility, respect for others, and a positive attitude are essential values for success in this field."

Charlene Modeley, Central Procurement Executive, Head Office, Attitude (10 years of service): "Working at Attitude is a true daily pleasure. Every morning, I am excited to start my day. My job has become a passion, and I feel genuine joy in accomplishing my tasks. Even Mondays are not hard, and when Friday comes, I say to myself: ‘It’s already the end of the week…’ Attitude has offered me many growth opportunities. Since 2015, I have become the best version of myself. I have evolved in areas such as purchasing, linen management, and price negotiation. I have participated in renovation projects and the development of local production. Attitude has trusted me and supported me daily. We are a close-knit team, and together we find solutions. The leaders create a healthy atmosphere, based on trust and employee well-being. A valuable piece of advice I received is: ‘Seek excellence deep within yourself.’ Although our leaders have very busy schedules, they always find time for us. Surround yourself with inspiring mentors. I pay tribute to Mr. Pitot and Mr. Desvaux. I also thank Laurent Bourgault du Coudray, who constantly motivates us with his positivity. They have motivated me and helped me grow. It is essential to be fulfilled at work because we spend a large part of our lives there."

Sivadev Sewgolam, Front Office Manager, Zilwa Attitude (10 years of service): "What has motivated me the most to stay with the Attitude group is the constant support we received, especially during the difficult period of COVID-19. This crisis shook the entire world, but Attitude managed to support us by continuing to pay our salaries even when we were not working. This sincere and humane gesture strengthened my commitment to them. Attitude invests heavily in the development of its Family Members, which is why we do not see ourselves as mere employees, but as true family members. Every year, training is offered, such as the Dale Carnegie course focused on leadership and managing key moments with clients, for example. These trainings are highly appreciated and have allowed me to progress professionally. If you are passionate about hospitality, I encourage you to join this industry. It is essential to have that vocation in your heart. The way you are treated, the attention to detail, and the diversity of groups you work with make all the difference. If you have confidence in yourself and feel good in your skin, you will thrive in this field, just as Attitude does for its members."

Kelvin Chokkan, Bar Supervisor, Sunrise Attitude (10 years of service): "I am always happy to see my team every day. It’s a job where you are always learning. I come from a family that has always been in hospitality. Hospitality is in our blood. What keeps me going, even in tough times, is the atmosphere and team spirit. It is always a challenge for me to welcome new clients to my bar. There are always new things. We invent and create every day. It’s great."

Jean Pierre Richard, Executive Chef, Coin de Mire Attitude (30 years of service): "After 30 years in hospitality, I am fascinated by the evolution of my profession. I think of the new techniques and the new generations entering the field. My know-how remains the same, but the techniques evolve. Before, it took me two days to make a stock. Today, I do it in one day. I come from a family that has always worked in the kitchen. I knew I wanted to do this job when I saw an Executive Chef in the kitchen. I wouldn't have wanted to do any other job. I am sure of that."

Neetu Jaymungul, Spa Supervisor, Friday Attitude (10 years of service): "Hospitality has made me grow and given me confidence. I have especially learned leadership. Generally, people always look for jobs in the government. I must say that hospitality has allowed me to become a leader and manager. I feel valued. Opportunities are there. I've always had a vision: to progress and learn. Then, I was able to fulfill my children's dreams through hospitality. My daughter is finishing her Master's in Australia, and my son is graduating in Mauritius. And my dream: to open my own wellness center in five years."
