Terre-Rouge: Jina Brigida Prosper Arrested with Rs 75 Million Worth of Heroin

Terre-Rouge: Jina Brigida Prosper has been arrested in possession of heroin valued at Rs 75 million.
On June 18, 2025, Jina Brigida Prosper, a 44-year-old resident of Batterie-Cassée, was apprehended by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) after being under surveillance. This operation was led by Police Superintendent Azmee Rohomutally and Inspector Conhyedoss, who discovered that she was occupying a secondary residence in Le Hochet, Terre-Rouge.
During the arrest, the Adsu caught her red-handed with heroin estimated at Rs 75 million, divided into two bags containing 2.385 kg and 2.462 kg. Additionally, Rs 307,600 were seized, suspected to be proceeds from heroin trafficking. Prosper faced drug trafficking charges in Pamplemousses court on June 19 and is currently in police custody.
Previously, on October 22, 2017, she was arrested during a monitored delivery at a hotel in the western coastal area of Morne while accompanied by Jean Patrice Tomas Begué and Marie Linda Mannick. They were attempting to retrieve 7 kg of heroin worth Rs 105 million from two Kazakh nationals: 33-year-old Ravil Khamikov and 31-year-old Olga Istyufeyeva, who had transported the drugs in their luggage to Mauritius. For this offense, Jina Brigida Prosper was released on bail.
