Demolition of the former MSPCA site – Shakeel Mohamed: "It is important to eliminate these sites that have become dens for illicit activities"

In a post on his Facebook page, Shakeel Mohamed, Minister of Housing and Land, announced the demolition of the former MSPCA (Dog Pound) site located on Route Militaire in Port-Louis. This operation was carried out on Monday morning under the supervision of officials from his ministry.
In his post, the minister emphasized that this dilapidated building, positioned in a strategic area of the capital, had for years been a hideout for drug users engaging in various illicit activities. He also mentioned that a decision regarding the future of this site would be made soon, in the interest of local residents.
Shakeel Mohamed stated that based on credible information, the building regularly housed illegal activities, including drug consumption and prostitution. He stressed the importance of eliminating such dens not only in this constituency but across the whole country to secure public spaces and protect residents.
