According to satellite images and observations, Tropical Storm Chenge has passed its closest point, approximately 70 km northeast of Agalega. A warning for strong winds and high swells remains in effect on the island. The lowest recorded pressure was 1000.5 hectopascals, as per the Mauritius Meteorological Services statement issued at 7 AM on Friday, October 24, 2025, for Agalega.

The latest satellite data and barometric readings from the Agalega weather station indicate that the moderate tropical storm Chenge is gradually moving away from the island. At 7 AM, it was centered around the coordinates 9.5° south latitude and 56.5° east longitude, roughly 100 km north of Agalega. The system is moving west-northwest at a speed of about 12 km/h.

However, active clouds associated with Chenge continue to influence local weather, causing moderate to heavy showers, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds are blowing from the east-southeast at around 50 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 90 km/h.

The sea remains very rough, with swells reaching up to 6 meters. Authorities strongly advise the public in Agalega not to venture out to sea, to stay indoors, and to take all necessary precautions.

Therefore, a warning for strong winds and high swells remains in effect at Agalega. The next statement will be issued around 10:30 AM today.
