Alleged Money Laundering: Christian Thomas, Mamy Ravatomanga's Right-Hand Man, Hospitalized After FCC Arrest

David Jean Christian Thomas, regarded as the right-hand man of Malagasy businessman Mamy Ravatomanga, will spend the night in a clinic after complaining of health issues following his arrest on Friday evening by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC).

He was questioned for several hours in the afternoon under caution, in the presence of his lawyer, Me Assad Peeroo, before being placed under arrest later in the evening.

At 38 years old, Thomas is suspected of being involved in a money laundering scheme related to an investigation into his employer. Following his questioning, he was formally arrested.

According to Me Peeroo, Mamy Ravatomanga employs several people in Mauritius, and Thomas is part of his staff. However, the lawyer did not specify Thomas's exact role.

Additionally, Mamy Ravatomanga was also arrested by the FCC on Friday afternoon. According to our information, he is suspected of money laundering activities for the period of October 2025, in accordance with the FCC Act.

Investigators went to the clinic where Thomas was admitted to officially notify him of his arrest. His hospitalization is now under the supervision of the FCC.

The businessman is at the center of an investigation concerning the alleged transfer of a large sum of money from Madagascar to Mauritius. His bank accounts, as well as several of his companies, have been frozen by an Attachment Order issued by the Supreme Court at the request of the FCC.

For context, Christian Ntsay, recently ousted as Prime Minister of Madagascar, and Mamy Ravatomanga, a close advisor to Andry Rajoelina, arrived in Mauritius aboard a private jet registered 5R-HMR, owned by the SODIAT group, on the night of October 11 to 12, 2025 — a landing that sparked significant controversy.
