Mauritius and India Strengthen Cooperation in Advanced Medical Care
An agreement was signed on Friday, October 31, 2025, in Ebène, between the Ministry of Health and Wellness and Venkateshwar Hospital, New Delhi, India. The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health and Wellness, Anil Bachoo; and the Deputy Minister, Ms. Anishta Babooram.
The signatories were the acting Director General of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Parmanand Mawah; and the director of Venkateshwar Hospital, Ankur Nagpal.
Under the agreement, Venkateshwar Hospital will collaborate with the Ministry to provide knowledge sharing on transplantation programs and offer telemedicine services to Mauritian patients.
The goal is to promote cooperation in highly specialized fields such as kidney, liver, and bone marrow transplants while ensuring continuous medical training and streamlined guidance services for Mauritian patients. The agreement will also strengthen the capacity of Mauritian healthcare professionals and provide technical assistance to modernize local clinical facilities and access advanced treatments not available in Mauritius.
In his statement, the Minister of Health emphasized that the agreement will enhance specialized health services through structured collaboration. He noted that Venkateshwar Hospital will serve as a resourceful hospital for various healthcare facilities across Mauritius.
Ankur Nagpal reaffirmed Venkateshwar Hospital's support for developing advanced surgical programs in Mauritius and updating medical and paramedical staff on the latest developments in the healthcare sector.
Venkateshwar Hospital is a 500-bed facility offering 34 specialties, 14 centers of excellence, 100 intensive care beds, and 10 modular operating rooms. It is a reputable healthcare institution known for oncology, robotic-assisted surgery, kidney, liver, and bone marrow transplantation, providing medical and surgical care that meets global standards and best practices with advanced technologies.
