Absence of Nasser Osman Beekhy's Lawyers in Court: Me Golamaully Mentions a Misunderstanding
A misunderstanding was raised by Me Samad Golamaully regarding the absence of Nasser Osman Beekhy's lawyers in court on Monday, November 3, 2025. He clarified that they were with their client at the clinic, accompanied by representatives from the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC).
However, the Port-Louis court ruled in favor of the FCC, which had requested that the motion for Nasser Osman Beekhy's release be rejected due to his and his lawyers' absence, namely Me Samad Golamaully and Ashley Hurhangee. The request was granted by Magistrate Nader Ali Caunhye.
At 64 years old, Nasser Osman Beekhy is charged with conspiracy in the Many Ravatomanga case, being investigated for alleged money laundering. The offense, according to the FCC, occurred on October 15, 2025.
Me Trishul Naga, the lawyer representing the FCC, informed the court that he had no information about a possible appearance by Nasser Osman Beekhy, who had been readmitted to the clinic after being granted permission to leave earlier in the day. The FCC lawyer also described the absence of the defense lawyers as disrespectful, reminding that the case was already scheduled.
Both lawyers are required to provide written explanations for their absence.
