Ravatomanga Case - Nasser Beekhy: "The FCC Director is involved in this case..."
In the Ravatomanga case, Nasser Osman Beekhy made revelations on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Port-Louis courthouse regarding his request for bail. The Vallée-des-Prêtres resident stated that he reported a significant influence peddling scheme amounting to Rs 350 million to the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC).
"I informed the FCC that, concerning this case, I uncovered a large influence peddling operation. With a lot of courage, I began to denounce influences involving a sum of Rs 350 million..." Beekhy testified under oath. He mentioned discussing this issue during his hearing with the FCC on October 27, 2025.
During questioning by his lawyer, Me Ashley Hurhangee, Beekhy emphasized that he had shared this information with Deputy Prime Minister Paul Bérenger through his advisor and with other government officials. He also took the initiative to request a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). "I am still denouncing, I will continue to denounce, I believe in the justice of my country," said the 65-year-old man.
Additionally, this retired firefighter stated that several FCC officers visited him while he was in the clinic. "One of them said to me: stay calm, you need to stop talking, everyone will sleep peacefully," he claimed. He did not name anyone for safety reasons, stating that his life is in danger.
Nasser Osman Beekhy's hearing will continue on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, or on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, if the FCC lawyer, Me Harivansh Jeeha, is unavailable.
Moreover, Chief Investigator Khemrajsingh Jokhoo earlier informed the Court about the circumstances surrounding Beekhy's arrest. An inspection of David Jean Christian Thomas's phone led investigators to him. The FCC continues to oppose Beekhy's release, arguing he poses a risk of interfering with witnesses or tampering with evidence.
Upon leaving the courthouse, lawyers Me Ashley Hurhangee and Samad Golamaully stated they could not comment as the discussions were still ongoing. However, they pointed out that their client had made several denunciations even before hiring their services.
In this case, Nasser Osman Beekhy is provisionally charged with conspiracy. He allegedly made an agreement with David Jean Christian Thomas, described as a close associate of a Malagasy magnate, to meet with lawyer Junaid Haroon Fakim, former FCC commissioner. This meeting reportedly aimed to interfere in an ongoing investigation. The offense is said to have been committed on October 15, 2025.
On October 27, 2025, in a statement to the Défi Média Group, the interim director of the FCC, Titrudeo Sanjay Dawoodarry, defended himself against accusations made by Nasser Osman Beekhy, denying any involvement or interference in this matter.
As for David Jean Christian Thomas (38), he was brought before the Mapou court on Monday, November 10, 2025, regarding his bail request.
Senior Investigator Soodagur stated in court that the FCC is awaiting the final report from the examinations conducted on the thirty-year-old's mobile phones. The investigator also clarified that other suspects still need to be questioned. He will be called back to the stand on November 14, 2025.
The commission accuses David Jean Christian Thomas of colluding with others to attempt to conceal assets through a bank's computer system, amounting to an estimated USD 20 billion, considered the proceeds of illicit activities.
This offense is said to have occurred in March 2025 in Calodyne.
