Ravatomanga Case: "As long as I am in the hands of the FCC, I will not reveal the implications of Sanjay Dawoodary in this influence peddling case," declares Nasser Beekhy

In the Ravatomanga case, Nasser Beekhy stated, "As long as I am in the hands of the FCC (Financial Crimes Commission), I will not reveal the implications of Sanjay Dawoodary (the acting director general of the agency) in this influence peddling case." This declaration was made on Tuesday afternoon, November 11, during proceedings regarding his bail application in the Port Louis Court.

Today’s session featured cross-examination of Nasser Beekhy by the legal representative of the FCC. The former firefighter claimed he was unaware that the commission was investigating the Malagasy businessman Mamy Ravatomanga at the time of his arrest at Plaisance Airport on October 24.

The FCC lawyer referenced a forensic report from Beekhy's mobile phone, asking if he had downloaded two applications intended to erase all data from his device shortly before his arrest. Nasser Beekhy denied this, explaining that his phone had technical issues, which led him to perform a reset.

The FCC lawyer also questioned him about his allegations against the acting director general of the commission, suggesting that he was trying to protect himself and other suspects, including former FCC commissioner Junaid Fakim.

Nasser Beekhy responded that these accusations were false and maintained that the acting director general of the FCC is involved in an influence peddling case.

Magistrate Chrisinta Chavrimootoo reserved her decision regarding Nasser Beekhy's bail request until this Friday at 1 PM.

This resident of Vallée-Pitot faces a preliminary charge of conspiracy in the case involving the Malagasy businessman Mamy Ravatomanga, who is under investigation by the FCC for alleged money laundering.
