Bérenger after meeting with Ramgoolam: 'It was a very good meeting, but it changes nothing'
Bérenger after his meeting with Ramgoolam: "It was a very good meeting, but it changes nothing".
The leader of the MMM describes his one-on-one with Navin Ramgoolam as a "very good meeting" between "two good friends". The two leaders met at Riverwalk, Floréal, at the Prime Minister's residence this Saturday at 6 PM. The discussion lasted 45 minutes.
On the agenda were contentious topics, including the renewal of Police Commissioner Rampersad Sooroojebally's contract for an additional year, which was decided on Friday, as well as the issue of electoral reform. The two men made no statements following their meeting.
When questioned by Le Défi Media Group this evening, Paul Bérenger stated that it was "a good meeting." However, this does not alter his decision to resign from the government. He indicated that another meeting with Navin Ramgoolam could take place.
Additionally, he confirmed that a special meeting of the MMM's central committee will be held this Monday at 5 PM, during which he is expected to announce his decision regarding his political future.
