Avinash Ramtohul: "It's Important to Moderate Online Content"

Avinash Ramtohul, the Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation, stated, "There has been a lot of laxity over the past ten years." He made this remark during the launch of the awareness campaign against violence towards women, titled "Fam Konn to drwa online," held on Monday morning, November 24, at the Café du Vieux Conseil in Port Louis.

The minister emphasized the importance of moderating content shared online. "We must protect our children," he asserted, highlighting the proliferation of hate speech and vulgar comments on social media.

Since the beginning of the year, over 1,400 cases of online harassment and 565 cases of sextortion have been reported.
