Tensions in the Assembly: Shakeel Mohamed Admits to 'Inappropriate Behavior' Towards Adrien Duval
Tensions in the Assembly: Shakeel Mohamed has acknowledged having exhibited 'inappropriate behavior' towards Adrien Duval during a session at the National Assembly on Tuesday. The Minister of Housing and Land stated that he apologized to the Opposition Whip following a heated exchange that he attributed to 'insulting remarks' made by the blue party deputy.
In the wake of this altercation, the PMSD condemned the 'tyranny of the majority' exerted by the ruling party, which they claim is attempting to destabilize Adrien Duval.
Shakeel Mohamed expressed hope that the blue deputy would now adopt a more 'constructive' approach within the chamber.
It is worth noting that the parliamentary session on Tuesday, November 25, briefly rekindled the tense atmosphere that prevailed under the previous government. For the first time in her term, Speaker Shirin Aumeeruddy-Cziffra had to suspend proceedings.
The incident erupted following a question from Franco Quirin directed at the Minister of Youth and Sports, Deven Nagalingum, regarding a recording related to the elective general assembly of the Mauritian Olympic Committee. The minister stated that no investigation could be initiated until the authenticity of the document was verified.
This response prompted a strong reaction from Adrien Duval, who denounced unfair treatment. His intervention quickly escalated into a heated exchange with Shakeel Mohamed, who reminded everyone of his past experience as Speaker.
