Essential Documents for Preparing Navin Ramgoolam's Defense, According to Lawyer Robin Ramburn

"These documents are crucial for preparing Navin Ramgoolam's defense," stated one of his lawyers, Me Robin Ramburn.

"Our defense is that this is a political vendetta and that the CID was not independent," he added. To remind, the case regarding the "excess payments" involving Prime Minister (PM) Navin Ramgoolam saw new developments this Thursday before the Financial Crimes Division (FCD). Magistrates Razia Jannoo-Jaunbocus and Abdool Raheem Tajoodeen made their decision on the disclosure motion requested by the PM's defense.

In their ruling, the magistrates ordered the disclosure of two categories of documents:

• Relevant entries from the Diary Book, if they have not already been provided;
• Documents related to Mutual Legal Assistance. This constitutes the essentials, according to the PM's entourage.

All other disclosure requests were rejected, as the Court deemed them irrelevant to the current trial context. The case has been set for a pro forma hearing on December 16, 2025.
