Sattar Hajee Abdoula stated, "Grant Thornton has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of," after leaving court this afternoon. The CEO of Grant Thornton has been released on bail at the Port Louis court on Tuesday, December 2, facing accusations of money laundering.

Sattar Hajee Abdoula was arrested on November 19, 2025, by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC). The investigation centers around a deposit of Rs 3.7 million made in March 2020 into the account of Grant Thornton Ltd (Advisory Services), one month before he was appointed as a director of Air Mauritius. The FCC considers this transaction potentially illicit, leading to a provisional charge of money laundering under the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act (FIAMLA).
