Chikungunya Case Reported in Plaisance, Rose-Hill

A second case of chikungunya has been reported in Mauritius at the end of this year. The patient is a 59-year-old resident of Plaisance, Rose-Hill.

She is currently hospitalized at Victoria Hospital in Candos, where she is receiving necessary treatment. At this stage, health authorities indicate that there is only one active case in the country.

Following this detection, a fumigation exercise has begun in the Rose-Hill area to mitigate any risk of virus spread.

Additionally, the Ministry of Health is planning a meeting on Wednesday, December 17, with various stakeholders, including the Ministries of Environment, Tourism, and Local Authorities.
