Port-Louis: 75-Year-Old Man Killed by a Bus

A tragic end for 75-year-old André France Tamby. The resident of Résidence Vallijee was pushing his bicycle and preparing to cross the street at a pedestrian crossing in Port-Louis on Tuesday, December 30, when he was struck by a bus.

The victim was admitted to the intensive care unit of Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital but unfortunately passed away that same evening. An autopsy conducted on December 31 attributed the cause of death to shock from multiple injuries.

A breathalyzer test performed on the 58-year-old bus driver on the day of the accident returned negative results. He appeared in court yesterday on a provisional charge of involuntary manslaughter and was released on bail set at Rs 50,000.
