Port-Louis: 75-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Hit by a Bus

A tragic end for André France Tamby, a 75-year-old resident of Résidence Vallijee. On Tuesday, December 30, while pushing his bicycle and preparing to cross the street at a pedestrian crossing in Port-Louis, he was struck by a bus.

The victim was admitted to the intensive care unit at Dr A. G. Jeetoo Hospital but sadly passed away that evening. An autopsy conducted on December 31 revealed that the cause of death was multiple injuries due to impact.

A breathalyzer test performed on the 58-year-old bus driver on the day of the accident returned negative results. He appeared in court yesterday facing a provisional charge of involuntary manslaughter and was released on a bail of Rs 50,000.
