Paul Lam Shang Leen Sworn in as Chairperson of the Inquiry Board on Andy Selmour's Death at Melrose Prison
Former judge Paul Lam Shang Leen, appointed as chairperson of the Board of Inquiry into the death of inmate Andy Selmour at Melrose Prison, took his oath at the State House in the presence of the President of the Republic on Monday, January 26.
Andy Selmour died on December 8, 2025, following a violent altercation with other inmates at Melrose Prison. The thirty-year-old was reportedly brutally attacked by two fellow inmates and was then forced to ingest a substance before being left behind.
The autopsy conducted by Chief Police Medical Officer Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin concluded that Andy Selmour died from a skull fracture. Multiple injuries, particularly on the inmate's arms, were also noted during the post-mortem examination.
