[In Pictures] Final Farewell to the Mootoo Caroopen Couple

Emotions ran high during the funeral of the Mootoo Caroopen couple on Tuesday, January 27. Many relatives and friends gathered at their home in Beau-Bassin to pay their last respects.

The funeral procession then made its way to the Saint-Martin cemetery in Beau-Bassin.

Former mayor of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill, Rajenee Mootoo Caroopen, and her husband, 72-year-old Kaylasson Mootoo Caroopen, tragically lost their lives in a car accident that occurred in Gros-Billot, New Grove, on Wednesday, January 21.

The couple was traveling in a van to Plaisance Airport with their children when the tragedy struck. According to initial reports, the van driver lost control of the vehicle after a car, driven by a 29-year-old man, suddenly appeared in front of him. The van then veered off the road and came to a stop on the roadside.
