Funeral of Kaylasson and Rajenee Mootoo Caroopen: A Heartfelt Tribute

The funeral of the former mayor of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill, Rajenee Mootoo Caroopen, and her husband, Kaylasson Mootoo Caroopen, took place this Tuesday afternoon. The couple, tragically victims of a road accident on January 21 in Gros-Billot, were honored by a crowd of family, friends, and public figures who came to pay their last respects at their home in Beau-Bassin.

It is important to note that Rajenee Mootoo Caroopen died instantly, while her husband, who was severely injured, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, January 25. The couple was en route to Plaisance Airport with two of their three children when the accident occurred.

The driver of the van received medical attention and his condition is reported to be stable. Their son has emerged from the coma but remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
