Weather: Heavy Rain Expected Starting Tonight

A warning for heavy rain has been in effect in Mauritius since this morning. Significant showers are expected across the island due to active clouds associated with the monsoon, which is currently developing in the region.According to forecaster Munir Shamtally from the Vacoas meteorological station, the sky is already overcast with rain observed in some areas. From tonight until tomorrow morning, strong showers are likely due to atmospheric instability.Precipitation may persist into tomorrow, particularly affecting the northern sector, as the monsoon evolves from the northwest. However, other regions could also be impacted, leading to widespread rain across the island. He notes that tonight's showers could temporarily be intense and accompanied by thunderstorms.He urges the public to stay indoors, avoid low-lying areas, refrain from hiking, cancel sea outings, and not seek shelter under trees during thunderstorms.
