Health: Nipah Virus Alert... Mauritius Enhances Surveillance After Two Cases in India

Since two cases of Nipah virus infection were detected in West Bengal, India, and confirmed in the laboratory, the Ministry of Health in Mauritius has increased surveillance of passengers arriving from this Indian state due to the high volume of travel between Mauritius and the Indian subcontinent.

The Mauritian Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the situation and aims to reassure the public. Although no local cases have been detected at this stage, health services are prepared.
