Imported Commercial Goods in Accompanied Baggage: Rs 139.35 per kilo from February 10
Passengers are informed that from February 10, 2026, the freight cost will be included in the calculation of the value of commercial goods imported and transported in accompanied baggage for taxation purposes, at a rate of 3 US dollars per kilo (Rs 139.35 per kilo or part thereof). Travelers are urged to be cautious regarding the importation of commercial goods in their personal luggage.
In a public notice, the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) reminds that any commercial goods carried in accompanied baggage - including both carry-on and checked luggage - must be declared at the "red channel" upon arrival. These goods will be held and then transferred to the PATS freight warehouse for customs clearance procedures. Passengers are also encouraged to pack commercial items separately from their personal belongings, in secure suitcases or packages clearly labeled with their names and addresses, to facilitate customs processing.
