Suspicion of Dubious Financing: Three Trucks Seized by the FCC in Bambous
On Monday, March 9, the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) seized heavy trucks used on construction sites in Bambous. Three trucks, commonly referred to as "30-ton trucks," were taken to Réduit Triangle following this operation. The FCC suspects that these vehicles, valued at several million rupees, may have been acquired through dubious financing.
This seizure follows a significant operation conducted earlier in the day at a luxury home in Bambous. Several vehicles were confiscated on-site, with the FCC suspecting money laundering related to suspicious activities. During the operation, officers also discovered an animal breeding facility that included birds and dogs.
According to initial reports, the owner is currently abroad, conducting activities from outside the country. The investigators found a luxurious residence, featuring richly ornamented rock walls and partitions.
They also recovered several purebred dogs: four pit bulls, one rottweiler, one husky, and one malinois. In total, five vehicles, including two cars and three trucks, along with 300,000 rupees in cash, were seized.
Additionally, at a resident in Beaux Songes, considered a "major player" and suspected of being a key link in a synthetic drug trafficking network operating in the western part of the country, the commission's agents seized four vehicles, including a motorcycle. Mobile phones were also recovered during this raid.
The 56-year-old suspect is currently being interrogated by the FCC. His niece and a resident of Camp Fouquereaux, who allegedly acted as a front in this case, are also being questioned by investigators.
