Murder of Beedwantee Beeharry in St-Paul - A Neighbor: 'She said one day her child would kill her'

Kailash Sharma Beeharry faced the anger of St-Paul residents after killing his mother, Beedwantee, aged 63. Ten days after the incident, he returned to the scene on March 12, escorted by police investigators from the Major Crime Investigation Team. During the reconstruction of the murder, neighbors spoke about the abuse Beedwantee suffered at the hands of her son. Sandhya, a neighbor, shared that Beedwantee often feared for her life, saying, "One day her child would kill her." She recalled having to shelter Beedwantee from her son’s violence, recounting an instance when Beedwantee hid at her home due to fear. The tragic event occurred on the night of March 3, when Kailash, known for his violent behavior, fatally attacked his mother after a dispute over money for alcohol. Following Beedwantee's refusal, he violently assaulted her, resulting in her death. Additionally, a possible inheritance dispute may have contributed to this matricide. Kailash has been arrested and is currently in police custody, facing provisional murder charges in the Curepipe court.
