Electricity: Severe Yellow Alert Issued This Morning
The Central Electricity Board (CEB) issued a severe yellow alert this Wednesday morning due to a significant increase in electricity demand. A peak of 540 megawatts was recorded yesterday, which is particularly high for this time of year compared to previous years, according to Thierry Ramasawmy, the CEB's communications manager. Furthermore, two engines are currently out of service: one at Nicolay and the other at the Champagne hydroelectric plant. Thierry Ramasawmy is urging the public to adopt responsible electricity consumption. He reassured that no power outages are expected at this stage.
