CEB: Yellow Alert Maintained

The Central Electricity Board (CEB) has maintained the yellow alert on Thursday, March 26, while noting a slight improvement in the electrical network situation.

After a severe yellow alert was observed on Wednesday, March 25, the alert level has been downgraded. This improvement is mainly attributed to a decrease in national electricity consumption. According to Thierry Ramasawmy, the CEB's communications manager, the peak consumption reached 540 megawatts yesterday, compared to approximately 520 megawatts today.

The CEB urges vigilance and collective responsibility to maintain the stability of the electrical network.

In October 2025, the CEB launched a new system designed to prevent tension on the electrical network during the summer period. This system is based on a three-color code: green, yellow, and red, indicating the country’s energy availability depending on the network's reserve margin.

Currently, the alert level is yellow, meaning that reserves are decreasing, although the situation remains under control. However, the CEB warns that a shift to a red alert could occur in the evening if electricity demand continues to rise.

When the alert level increases, consumers are encouraged to voluntarily reduce their electricity consumption, especially during peak hours, between 6 PM and 9 PM.
