Two Dead and Three Injured in an Accident at Grand-Bel-Air: What We Know

This morning, an accident in Grand-Bel-Air, located in the southeast of the country, resulted in two fatalities and three injuries. The victims were Naden Chelikani, a 58-year-old resident of Beau-Vallon, and Marjorie Aristide, a 55-year-old from Rose-Belle. The three injured individuals are Marjorie Aristide's children: a 37-year-old man and 14-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. They have been hospitalized.

Naden Chelikani had a varied career as a farmer, gamekeeper, and planter. Marjorie Aristide, who was considered close to Chelikani, worked as a cleaner at the Grand-Port district council.

The tragedy occurred this morning while Naden Chelikani was driving the vehicle, which also carried Marjorie Aristide and her three children. The car crashed into a tree before catching fire. Both Chelikani and Aristide were trapped in the flames and died, while the other three occupants managed to escape the vehicle.

An autopsy was conducted by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the police forensic service, along with Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin, a forensic doctor, following the road accident that happened on Monday, April 20, in Grand-Bel-Air.

According to initial findings, Naden Chelikani died from extensive burns, while Marjorie Aristide succumbed to severe chest injuries.
